Our take on menopause? We will not be invisible

Menopause education and resources are shockingly scarce. As an advocate in pleasure no matter your age, Womanizer demands change now and for the future – and we're backing it up with action.

To kick off Menopause Awareness Month, we partnered with the Kinsey Institute to survey Americans on their knowledge about menopause.

86.8% of Women experience menopausal symptoms

The Womanizer Menopause Study
We surveyed 3,000 Americans about menopause basics, its impact on sex and pleasure and symptom management. To address the larger Gender Health Gap for women of color, we consciously included more Black, Asian and Hispanic women in the survey. Less than 1 in 10 Americans know about the Gender Health Gap. Even fewer realize that women of color are more affected by it.

The results are in!

Alarming Lack of Awareness

Alarming Lack of Awareness

When asked a six-question menopause knowledge quiz, fewer than 25% of people answered more than three questions correctly, while nearly 50% of women ages 40-65 did.
Racial Resource Disparities

Racial Resource Disparities

A stark disparity exists in menopause knowledge among women of different racial and ethnic backgrounds. White women have the highest percentage of accurate answers at 55%, while Asian women have 42%, Hispanic women have 37%, and Black women have 35%.
Pregnancy Myths

Pregnancy Myths

Nearly a third of all people thought menopausal women could still get pregnant.
Overlooked Symptoms

Overlooked Symptoms

While 60% of people identified hot flashes, only 29% knew the complete range of menopausal symptoms

The good news! Pleasure is power

1 in 10 menopausal women use masturbation as a primary way to manage symptoms, and a similar number rely on partnered sex for relief.
"While menopause does mark the end of a woman's reproductive years, it does not mark the end of a woman’s sexual journey. Sexuality and sexual intimacy can make this transition more pleasurable."
